I’ve been listening to wayne dyer a lot lately. I really like his message… all about positive thinking and the law of attraction. You can choose what you think about, and what you think about becomes what you believe and that’s what you’ll attract into your life regardless of it being positive or negative. My problem is that I don’t know how to make myself believe in things that aren’t true.
I like a lot of what he has to say. But I am a critical thinker too, so I understand difficulty in trying to incorporate everything he teaches. I have found that we can pick and choose what we think is applicable to our life and who we are. Maybe 15% of what he says doesn’t work for you, but there may be value in the other 85%. And maybe that leads you somewhere new as well.
He and others have helped me understand my spiritual side in a way that organized religions have not. I don’t think that I can control outcomes through specific thought, but I do believe there is a greater influence outside ourselves that we can all focus on and connect with.
There is a lot to be said for the energy (how we choose to focus our thoughts and attention) that we create in our lives and in our relations with each other and nature. External tangibles cannot be controlled by manipulating how you think, but if you focus on the things you really want/ need then you will likely see that they have been around you the entire time.
Personally I’m really tired of magical thinking, and I wish more people employed the logical, empirically based kind.

Yes, you can choose what you think about and what you believe — the trouble is, what no believe has no bearing whatsoever on reality. That’s the vital point the good "doctor" misses…
Peace.

Life will tend to whittle people like Mr Dyer down to size, sooner or later.

You don’t have to believe…It’s about thinking about what you want… The focus will then change to "Notice" opportunities to get them… They were always there you just don’t notice because your not looking for them.
It’s kinda like you buy a red mini… and you love the car because you hardly ever see red mini’s on the road… then over the next 2 weeks you see red ones everywhere… They were always there… you just changed your focus to notice them… Make sense.??
